Nakia and Thelissa Edwards, married in 2002 and the Co-Founding Partners of ConnectingMarriages, have served as facilitators of pre-marital and marriage education workshops, programs and services in the Greater Houston area since taking their nuptials. They are certified in several marriage and relationship education curricula including PREP Within Our Reach, Active Relationships Series, Family Wellness, SYMBIS, WAIT Training and Basic Training for Couples: A Black Marriage Education Curriculum. They are in the process of developing a relationship curricula series with self-assessment as its foundation, scheduled to be released in Fall 2009.
The Edwards’ are Twogether in Texas sub-contractors in Region 6, representing South Central Harris County. Additionally, they facilitate marriage education workshops in partnership with AVANCE Houston and WSS Tri County in Richmond, Texas.
Nakia has earned a Masters of Counseling from Prairie View A & M University and Thelissa is currently enrolled in the Counseling Psychology graduate program at the University of Houston – Victoria. Nakia and Thelissa are the proud parents of three children: Jacob, Hannah and David.
